Student Academic Orientation Sessions
Academic Orientation
Completion of an Academic Orientation session is required for all entering full-time undergraduate students of freshman standing and all new international students. Transfer students of sophomore and junior standing are highly encouraged to also attend Academic Orientation. These sessions are designed to give entering students information about the programs of study available, to acquaint them with campus procedures and activities, to meet with faculty or professional advisors for advising and to register for the upcoming semester. Each session is limited to a certain number of students so that each person can be given the necessary attention.
New students will receive information concerning Academic Orientation in their admittance packet. All entering freshmen and transfer students who participate in Academic Orientation sessions will register for the upcoming semester as part of the orientation activities.
Once your non-refundable tuition deposit has been processed by the Office of Admission, you may register for Academic Orientation on my.tcu.edu. Since the size of each Academic Orientation session is limited, students should register as soon as possible for the session that will be most convenient. Any inquiries concerning the Academic Orientation program should be addressed to the Academic Orientation office (TCU Box 297350, Fort Worth, Texas 76129) or call (817) 257-7855. Go to the Academic Orientation web page www.orientation.tcu.edu for dates and more detailed information on Academic Orientation and Frog Camp.
Nursing Students
Nursing students enrolled in practicum nursing courses must attend practicum orientation and testing sessions. These are held the first week of classes and the student must demonstrate mastery of prerequisite material by passing examinations specified by the faculty and which are in the opinion of the faculty critical to the safe care of patients. Failure to pass mastery examinations prior to the last day to add courses will result in required enrollment in a one-hour special-problems course to address those deficiencies. Absence from these orientations may cause cancellation of enrollment in the courses and will be considered in the performance evaluation in the course. See bulletin boards on the second floor of the Bass Building for exact schedules and locations. Nursing students enrolled in clinical courses are reminded that assignments in clinical course sections are subject to change and this information should also be checked prior to the first week of classes.
New MBA Students
New MBA students are required to attend an orientation (including advising) workshop prior to the start of the fall semester. Information regarding orientation, registration, and the workshop will be mailed to all new MBA students.
Brite Divinity School
